Michael Williams speaks at the Defending the American Dream Summit in Austin Texas. Don’t miss this one.
This is a clip from the video I shot Saturday.
David
This weekend I attended the Defending the American Dream Summit in Austin. Frankly, anything short of a novel length story would fail to do it justice. The event sponsored by American’s for Prosperity, the Samuel Adams Institute, and many other conservative organizations was an inspiration to me and many others who attended. I look forward to applying the knowledge I acquired during this crash course in Conservative Activism
I attended the rally on Saturday, the 12th in July, braving heat that surpassed 100 degrees. I was unfortunately late in arriving as I had to transport my small children to the other side of town before I could go. I say unfortunately but it wasn’t really. Not in the long run.
I mean, after all, a long drive is something I used to enjoy regardless of the heat or the cold temperature. There’s nothing like just cruising through this great country and looking at it from the window of your car. However that is one pleasure that the majority of Americans simply can’t afford anymore due to the rising cost of fuel.
That thought in my mind as I arrived to listen to those who wish my vote certainly can’t hurt anything, right? And, then there are the issues that never leave my thoughts for long—national security and its sister issue, illegal immigration. Of course, being a concerned mother and citizen of this great country, I am also concerned with the attempts to remove God from everything, including our history and the fact that with the government spending like it does our children’s grandchildren will still be paying it off.
Due to my being late I missed hearing Betty Brown tossing about what I can only assume was her typical rhetoric. As I did miss her speech though I can make no assessments of what she had to say. I’m sure she was thrilled to look out into that audience and not see me there, knowing as she does that I am one person, I believe among many, that she can’t hoodwink any longer.
I arrived about an hour into the event which brought me in at the very tail end of a phone call from a truly great man, Congressman Duncan Hunter. I only got the chance to hear him say “God Bless America” and I can honestly say I wholeheartedly agree with him there. If God doesn’t bless America in this election I feel we will, as a nation, be in serious trouble. Continue reading this post…

Greetings from the West Texas Headquarters for Gun Clingin’ SUV Drivin’ Vast Right Wing Conspirators. I know I am a day early this week but tomorrow we will be loading up my four wheel drive extended cab pickup truck which is basically the same size is a Suburban but just two less doors. I probably should feel guilty about driving this vehicle but no matter what Barack Hussein Obama or Bill O’Reilly say, I do not.
First if all I would like to say that last Saturday, the conservatives in this country lost a really good man with the passing of Tony Snow. I have been listening to and watching Tony Snow for a number of years and found him to be almost in a class all by himself insofar as television/radio news personalities went. Then the more I watched and listened to this man, I realized that he was an honest and good conservative person. I have nothing but respect for him and the job he did as the Presidential Press Secretary. I will have to agree with Vice President Cheney in thinking that Tony Snow was the BEST Press Secretary that I can remember. I particularly enjoyed watching his news conferences and thought he did a masterful job in setting many of the White House news corps straight, without ever being nasty. He always did it with a nice smile on his face and in a nice even tone. He showed remarkable restraint in dealing with many of these people, particularly Helen Thomas, who I find to be particularly offensive. I will not forget the film of Tony’s last day as he was leaving the White House and the entire White House staff stood outside to wish him well and give him a well deserved ovation. We will miss Tony Snow. Continue reading this post…

Re: Household repairs
Dear Queen:
By all current accounts, I know you are in dire straits and in need of some advice on how to come up with the moola (American for dollars) necessary to keep you living in the style you have become accustomed to as well as giving you enough to make some long overdue repairs to your palaces.
We’ve been reading about the fact that some of your residences haven’t been updated in over fifty years. The reports I’ve read say the wiring is bad, the roofs leak and a lot of the rooms need painting and redecorating. One report says that your rooms haven’t been redecorated since your father died, which was sometimes back in the fifties, if I recall correctly.
I am appalled. I am shocked.
Even though you are currently receiving over eighty three million a year to keep up your current lifestyle, in today’s troubled economic times, that just won’t cut it will it? I mean, eighty three million a year just isn’t what it used to be, is it? I was also outraged to find that your annual maintenance budget of thirty million dollars hasn’t been changed in over fifteen years. Obviously the people who oversee your spending haven’t priced yard men lately.
Well, I am the answer to your problems. I am here to help you through these trying times and to get you back on the track to health, wealth and financial stability. Continue reading this post…
As I sit here this evening relaxing with a good cup of coffee, I find myself looking back at the past few months as I worked to organize the Victory 08 Republican Rally coming up this Saturday. The first thing that comes to mind is “I had no idea how much work goes into planning a major event like this”. Endless phone calls, sleepless nights, more endless phone calls, and more sleepless nights. I will be glad when Saturday is over! I am thankful I had a good team to work with.
The second thing that comes to mind is a simple question. Is it worth it? My answer is a loud YES, It Is Worth It. This election is by far the most important election in my lifetime. The path this nation travels over the next 50 years may very well be decided this November and if the wrong man gets the job, we are in for a very rough ride. I will admit that Senator McCain was not my first choice but the possibility of an Obama Presidency scares the hell out of me. I just wish more people cared about our nation like I do. As a citizen of the greatest nation on earth, it is my duty and responsibility to elect a president who will carry this nation into a strong and prosperous future. When you look past the words coming from Senator Obama, you will find a dark shadowy agenda filled with plans we defeated during the Cold War. His plans for our Military will leave us weaker than some third world countries even though our enemies continue to build up their strength. His plans to punish those who are successful with higher taxes and giving the money to those who want to be compensated for doing nothing is absurd. His 800 billion dollar Global Poverty Act will rip money from each of our pockets for generations to come. Oh, by the way, this disastrous piece of legislation is once again before our House and Senate as the Democrats try to make it into law. He is only a Senator and wants to throw 800 billion out of our country, imagine what he will do as President. I am not ashamed to call myself a Capitalist, in fact I am proud to be one. So all of you sitting at home watching Opra with your hand out, Get A Job! Get off your butt, Earn a living, pay your taxes, and be proud of what you have accomplished. If all you want to do is sit around saying “Poor Me” then be my guest but don’t expect me to pay for it.
My final thought for the evening is: What will happen after the Rally? That’s an easy one, I will start working on the next thing I can do to help my country. Plan another Rally? Start another Blog? Go on a lecture tour? Give the Liberals a few more reasons to hate me? … I’m not sure at this point but you can rest assured that I will have a new plan and a new goal long before our Texas heat gives way to the more comfortable Autumn weather. … I will let you know what my plans are, you can count on it.
God Bless and God Bless America.

Several weeks ago, I wrote an article about the practice of our state legislature using so called ‘ghost’ employees. These, as you may remember, were employees who were carried on the states payroll as full time but actually performed little or no work at all. By having them classified as full time, they were able to receive medical insurance as well as retirement credits.
Well, now we have a new twist coming along to contend with…..ghost voting.
That’s right, ghost voting. Now that doesn’t mean that we have ghosts voting in the legislature of this state, it means that absent members get other members to vote for them. In other words, if I’m out in the lobby or down the hall in the cafeteria when a vote comes up, just reach over and press my button for me…thanks I’ll do the same for you next time you want to be gone.
It seems some enterprising news reporter videoed this taking place and posted the site on You-Tube where it has been seen over a million times. I’d bet that reporter isn’t allowed back in the chambers at any time in the near future. After the video came out several of the lawmakers were interviewed and said that “obviously the public didn’t understand how the legislators actually worked.”
You’re correct, we don’t. We thought when you got elected to office, you sat in either the house or senate and actually listened to what was going on and then made a decision as to which way you wanted to vote. Obviously we were wrong, it doesn’t work like that. Continue reading this post…
Conservative Leader Michael Johns’ interview with the Sonoran Alliance, yields a significant assessment of our modern day Conservative Movement.
I first heard about Michael Johns while my wife Melissa Pehle-Hill was researching and writing her latest book. Michael acted as a mentor to her during this process. During this time I read several of his articles and agreed with him so much I invited him to become a contributor to the Make-A-Statement Blog. Since that time, I have read every article he has written and my opinion has not changed.
In this interview with the Sonoran Alliance, Michael hits a Grand Slam Home Run! His assessment of the Conservative Movement in Arizona and the Nation brings some much needed light to a philosophy the Liberals have worked hard to sweep under the carpet. His views on the Economy, the War on Terror, Civil Rights, and Homeland Security are right on the mark.
As the newly elected President of the “Phoenix Chapter of the Coalition for a Conservative Majority” Michael will have an opportunity to rekindle the flames of Conservatism where cooling embers now dwell. Those of you looking for the next generation of Conservative Leaders, Michael Johns should be the standard they measure up to.

I have just returned from another trip to Germany and the Netherlands. This time, I did not want to drive myself through the countryside, so I choose to take a train. Let me tell you, those folks know how to do it. The trains are clean, fast and most of all on time. If yours is scheduled to leave at 12:02, then you had better be on the platform waiting with your luggage because the train will leave at 12:02. Not, 12:03, the train will leave at 12:02.
When you are trying to get to smaller towns, you get stuck in various stages of commuter traffic. On one run I noticed that students got on (where the school was located) and rode several miles to get to where ever they lived. I asked them about it and they told me in very good English that they rode the train both to and from school each day.
These were ordinary looking kids, clean cut for the most part, joking and having fun, but serious about their studies and eager to talk. It was evident that they were interested in obtaining a good education so that their lives would be better and they would have more opportunities as an adult.
First off, I was impressed that these kids spoke English. I do not speak German or any foreign language, so they are out in front on that score. Secondly, they did not seem to think school or learning was a bore and should be avoided at all costs. Quite the contrary, they thought an education was necessary for their future. They did not suffer from any visible forms of low self esteem. In fact these kids looked really good.
Now contrast this with our system in the states. At this time we have approximately 30 million illiterate citizens in this country. This is roughly 10% of our total population. You know a large number of them passed through our school system. My question is, how did they graduate if they could not read or write? These people cannot read a prescription, an employment application, or the instructions on how to safely use any of our everyday appliances without causing serious bodily harm to themselves. I was thinking about this being dangerous this past weekend when I was trying to fix my gas barbeque grill. I can imagine what might happen if you could not read how to properly install the propane tank and get the burners to operate correctly. This is a disaster waiting to happen.
