I received an email from TexasFred today that included a You Tube video of an art project displayed at the Univ. of Maine Farmington. The display included several large American Flags spread out on the floor in a campus hallway for the students to walk on. My first thought was “Why doesn’t the school administration stop this?” When I went a little farther, I found that the University’s President, Theodora Kalikow and the University’s Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, Allan Berger not only turned a blind eye but actually helped orchestrate the event. Now there is some great leadership, Hitler would be so proud of you!
Yet, in the midst of this darkness, a man stood up shining brightly. Charlie Bennett, a veteran who served this nation from 1967 to 1979 confronted this crowd and did his best to protect one of the flags from being stepped on. During the confrontation, he was informed that if he picked up a flag, he would be escorted from the building by the police.
I called Mr Bennett this evening and thanked him for what he did. He asked that we contact our Representatives and demand that they draft Legislation to protect the US Flag from desecration. Now I am asking the same. Please contact your US Representative and Senators and ask them to support this Legislation.
To me, our flag is much more than a piece of cloth. It represents everything that is good about the United States of America. It is the embodiment of each and every soldier who has given his or her life in service to this great nation and it represents the near perfect vision our Founding Fathers’ held for this Republic.
And finally to those Representatives and Senators who hate the this Great Nation and want to turn it into a Liberal Cesspool, I hope the American People find the courage of our founders and send you packing. I also hope you get a job that you are qualified to do such as asking in ENGLISH “Would you like fries with that”.
God Bless America,
David A Hill

subject Walking on the American Flag is NOT Art!

Saying “Our American First Amendment protections include the right to free speech and artistic expression, even speech that is repugnant and unpleasant and offensive” may give some asshat a ‘right’ to express himself like a fool but that doesn’t make it less offensive or socially correct…
Many have fought and died so this cretin could show his total disrespect for the flag of our nation, you would think that some would exhibit the tact, decorum and RESPECT to not use this mockery in a pitiful attempt that was specifically designed with the express intent to offend and shock the American public…
And then to have the BALLS to call it ART as a form of justification as they hide behind a thin veil of constitutional freedom??
Shameful, totally shameful!

our colleges have become so self serving….
it is time to examine their purpose. to teach minds to question, yes.
to think they can plaunt the law of the land, no.
if i had been there, i would have backed charlie bennett.
don’t these students have any civics training anymore?
I agree with Mr Bennett and would have liked to have been there to support him. That was not art, it was a disgrace to all our soldiers who have fought to keep us free. Some little creep who does not have a clue is allowed to express his views like that! The colleges should teach them better!
