Hello once again from the West Texas Branch Of Conspiratorial Gun Clinging Jingoists. Thanks to everyone who remembered me on my birthday. Now while my birthday might not be a pivotal day in everyone’s life, I must take this opportunity to be just a bit offended that only ONE person, yes, you heard right, only ONE person remembered to send me a card celebrating one of my favorite days. Oh, you still don’t know. All right, does EARTH DAY sound familiar to anyone? Just as I thought only Fred Jenkins of Hobbs, New Mexico takes this particular day as seriously as do I. I was going to send all of you a photograph of Al Gore but you can forget that.
I always enjoy looking at what happened on certain days and in the entire year of 1937. Others who share April 23rd as their birthday are: William Shakespeare; Shirley Temple Black; and Valerie Bertinelli (And for those of you who reside in the People’s Republic of San Francisco, they were born on April 23rd but not in the year 1937). In the year 1937, Walt Disney released his first full-length animated movie, Snow White; Neville Chamberlain ( A real Mutt) became Britain’s Prime Minister; The Golden Gate Bridge is completed (Yes, Freedom Loving Workers of San Francisco, that’s the one in your Republic); The Hindenberg airship explodes in disaster; and get a load of these next figures;
Bread —————— $ 00.09
Milk ——————— 00.18 - half gallon
Average Income—— 1,062.00
House —————— 8,840.00
Automobile ———— 1,376.00
Gasoline —————- 00.15
Flour ——————— 00.04
Eggs ——————— 00.16
That must have been a high end automobile. I remember my Dad in 1949 paying just over #1,000.00 for a brand new Ford and in 1951 a little over $1,100.00 for a new Ford
This week I have received several e-mails. I am not sure of the point of origin but according to the information some were initiated by some of the FLDS attorneys and some by others who I’m not sure about their status. I have spoken with several people around San Angelo, one of them being a retired District Judge who was really pleased not to have been called upon to assist in this matter. But he was pretty well informed and knows the judge who is handling the hearings.
First of all let me say this. I am not a huge fan of the Child Protective Services or any similar organization. I have dealt with these agencies off and on for over 40 years. Some of them have been really helpful and some have been a king sized pain in the rear. Several years back, Dennis Wesley and I were working a severe child abuse case in which a baby about 6 months old was shaken so badly that it cause her brain to swell and she went into a coma and has been tube fed ever since. The last time I heard of this child she was about 8 years old and had never responded to anything. The CPS lady who was assigned to the University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas was first rate. As a matter of fact, the entire staff at the University Medical Center was as good as I have ever seen. The specialists even allowed Dennis and I the opportunity to attend their meeting where the final decisions were being made in determining this child’s injury and probable cause of the injuries. Their staff also gladly came to New Mexico and testified at the trial of the offender in this case who was convicted.
One of the e-mails compared the District Judge who is handling the cases as being like Judge Lance Ito, who I’m sure you will all remember was the Judge in the O.J./Dream Team fiasco. What really appears to be the case is that the lady who is the District Judge presiding over the initial hearings is more than competent and the out of town attorneys are fairly put out because she doesn’t put up with a bunch of silly crap in her court. To my knowledge there are no TV cameras permitted inside her court as was not the case in O.J. and the custody hearing of Anna Nichole Smith’s child.
The City of San Angelo has had a number of events taking place during the past two weeks and most of the lodging in the city had already been taken up by various groups who had reserved the rooms prior to the raid on the FLDS compound. SO, the out of town attorneys are being forced to beg for lodging from various citizens. Why Jim, you are saying, I’m sure you opened up your house to some visiting attorney. I’d rather be pecked to death by a duck than have one of these whiners share my roof. Just about the only attorney I would open my doors to anytime day or night is my old school friend from Houston, Mike Pickering. I’m sure there are a few more but not any of these cry babies.
Also, some of the information being reported by the national media is not as accurate as is being reported by our own local liberal media. Surprisingly enough even the San Angelo (Sub) Standard Times has had some editorials which are supportive of not only the CPS but the investigation in general.
I have heard and read some comparisons of the FLDS raid in Eldorado and the Branch Davidian raid a number of years back in Waco. Now where they get this comparison, I have not been able to understand. I heard one female caller who said that she lived in Texas and that she and her husband had guns and should anyone try to enter her home with a search warrant that they would be running the risk of being shot. To this nice person I have this to say, “Do the letters S.W.A.T. ring a bell?”
The Officers and CPS people who executed the search warrant on the FLDS compound did so in good faith and did so pursuant to an ORDER BY A DISTRICT JUDGE. When you have a search warrant, it is a court order to enter a certain premises and to look for and seize particular persons or things. I have actually heard licensed attorneys make the statement that if the alleged 16 year old who allegedly made the phone call which initiated this warrant were not located that all of the evidence seized would be suppressed. HORSE CRAP! That’s not the way it works. As long as the persons who applied for the search warrant exhibited enough information to satisfy the Fourth Amendment regarding probable cause, and that they acted in good faith, the warrant is valid whether they ever locate the informant or not. There are volumes of case law which support this.
Anyway the point is this. Until the Texas Department of Public Safety and the various investigating agencies throw up their hands in surrender, I believe that they acted in good faith and did what they believe was in the best interest of those children. I concur with their beliefs. The count is now up to 437 children.
In this morning’s local paper, they ran a story indicating that the money originally used for the purchase of the 1700 ranch might have been illegally drained from a $100 Million Dollar trust. The suspect in this is none other than convicted felon Warren Jeffs. Keep in mind also that when the ranch was purchased, the sellers were told that it was being purchased as a hunting retreat. Why did these people lie? Take a good close look at these robotic FLDS women who range from evasive to downright lying in their answers to questions regarding multiple marriages and underage girls being forced to have sex with much older men. Also I heard on one of the radio news programs yesterday that the ACLU is siding with the FLDS in this matter. Is that a clue or what? Also, do you maybe wonder just where the $100 million dollars in this trust fund came from?
Now I know that all of you have heard the old saying, “When the goin” gets tough, the tough get goin’.” Well the Democrats/Socialists seem to have put a little different twist. That being, “When the goin’ gets tough, the liberals start whinin’.” I listened to some audio clips of Barack Hussein Obama being questioned by Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos. Obama fell flat on his face and almost immediately, the world’s most intelligent and articulate human began to whine about being asked tough and unfair questions. I also listened to Stephanopoulos giving John McCain a hard time, much harder than he had given Obama, and John McCain handled it pretty well.
Also, Obama tells us he is ready to handle the job as our President and stand strong against radical Islamic leaders who want us dead, but couldn’t stand up against a student who kept insisting that Obama pose for a photograph with him. Obama refused for a couple of times and the said,”You’ve worn me down brother” and gave in and paused for the photograph. Now this is just who I want negotiating with Kim Jong Il, Hugo Chavez, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Raul Castro and the rest of the Mutts who mean us harm. God help us if Obama ever gets elected.
Earlier this week I was listening to a news report on the radio and I didn’t get in which city in the U.S. this occurred, but according to the report, an Islamic bus driver driving a public transportation bus stopped the bus and made all of the passengers get off the bus. Why? Easy, it was prayer time and he wanted privacy inside the bus when he said his prayers.. I did not hear what happened to the bus driver as a result of his actions but I’ll bet that the company didn’t have the guts to fire him. After all, he was just trying to exercise his rights as a member of the “Religion of Peace.” What do you suppose would happen to a Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Catholic, Lutheran, or Episcopalian had they pulled a stunt like this? Unbelievable.
Just when you thought that you couldn’t stand China because of their overall socialist attitude, their treatment of their own people, their poisoning of goods and a multitude of other indiscretions, the old Chinese do something with which I agree one hundred percent. China conducted a poll and the results were that Nancy Pelosi was voted the Least Popular Person by the Chinese people. How about that. One must wonder though if they have ever heard of “Fat Teddy”? But I can live with Pelosi being at the top of the Chinese Mutt list.
A couple of mornings back I was taking my morning walk and as usual the ground and several trees were covered with maybe the worst birds on the planet, “The Great Tailed Grackle”. What you must understand about these worthless birds is that they have a communications system second to none. They have scouts positioned outside every car wash on the planet. Then just as soon as you get your car or truck washed and get it parked in your drive or on a parking lot, grackles come from every direction to deposit crap on you vehicle. As I was walking along I saw a big male strutting with his wings and tail feathers ruffled in his mating display, and from out of nowhere a mockingbird (The Texas State Bird) hit that big male grackle and knocked him rolling. The grackle took to squawking and running trying to get in flight and the ol’ mockingbird made a big circle and came back and got him again on the fly. That idiot grackle finally located a thick bush and hid out. The ol’ mockingbird flew up to the top of a building and began to whistle and sing. I gave him a big salute. Now I have cussed the mockingbirds outside my bedroom window on occasion as they would begin to sing their songs right after daylight, but I’ll never have a bad thought about one again now that I know that they mess with grackles as well as cats. If you have never watched a pair of mockingbirds give a cat the business, you have missed out on one of the great stories in the animal kingdom.
Earlier today I ran into a good friend who is a Naval Veteran of WW II. I had not seen him in over a week and inquired as to his whereabouts. He told me that his brother had passed away last week end and he had gone to Tulsa, Oklahoma for his funeral. He showed me one of the cards from his brother’s funeral and I was plenty impressed with what I saw. The deceased’s name was Edward Alex Phillips. He was 86 years old when he passed away. Then I looked at his family history and some facts about his life. What really jumped out at me was the fact that he was a WW II Naval Ace. He was of course a fighter pilot and the information said that Mr. Phillips had been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross two times and had received two silver stars and eight other decorations. My friend said that his brother accepted the medals but insisted on no official ceremony as he thought the men who had lost their lives in battle were responsible for him being alive and enabled him to complete his job. I think that is pretty common from many WW II Veterans who I have had the pleasure of knowing through the years. We are losing these brave men at the rate of 1,000 per day. God rest their souls.
MUTTS OF THE MONTH:
“Fat Teddy”; Barack Hussein Obama; Michelle Obama; Hillary Clinton; Bill Clinton; Nancy Pelosi; Harry Reid; Jack Murtha; George Soros; Michael Moore; Bill Maher; Barbara Boxer; Diane Feinstein; Al Sharpton; Jesse Jackson; CAIR; The ACLU; Jimmy Carter; Code Pink; Phil Donahue; Madea Benjamin; that’s enough for now.
Last Sunday I was looking through the Parade Magazine section of the Sunday paper. The only reason I even look in that section is to check on the cartoon “Howard Huge” and to check on one section which gives a really good inside look into the actions of some of our celebrities. There was one question asking about so many young actresses who had been behaving badly, could Parade single out any for their good deeds? Of course Parade jumped right on that and pointed out that actress Hayden Panettiere (They had her photo and I would not have recognized her if she had walked into my living room). Now get ready for the good deed done by this air head. In October of 2007 she flew to Japan and paddled out on a surfboard in an attempt to protect dolphins from Japanese fishermen. This scholarly looking broad said, “I did it because it was the right thing to do.” Wow! Is this a profile in courage or what?
Just when you thought that the animal rights activists had pretty well covered all the bases, they manage to find another group of living creatures who need their assistance. I read an article this week describing another animal rights group, which of course is supported by PETA, who are addressing the problem of the “Senseless slaughter” of insects. Fittingly enough they call themselves the Insect Rights Activists. Catchy name huh? This organization lobbies for the humane treatment of insects. They say that we can get along with —- termites; cockroaches; bed bugs; crop eating fruit flies; etc. Hey, wait a minute! I am getting the feeling that you people are not taking this as seriously as am I. Then again, perhaps you are. I think we need to get all of these people in one location and put one scoop of fire ants down their pants and see just how well they can get along with some of our insect brethren. I guess they would all stroke out if they ever got a close look at the way my wife treats crickets in her garage.

Well that’s about it for this week. Last Saturday I did manage to go to a Gun and Knife Show here in San Angelo. I guess that was the largest single group of “Bitter People” I have been around in quite some time. I saw a number of firearms that I was really tempted to cling to but I guess I was just not bitter enough. I could get that way though.
Tonight, my wife and I are going out to eat for my birthday. I can only hope that the snipers have left the area, but we must be ever vigilant.
Later
