When you hear the word politics do you simply turn off?  Many people do.  That response comes from the belief that all politicians are lying just to get into office and then going to do whatever they want to once there.  Or from the belief that it doesn’t matter what we do nothing is really going to change anyway, government will still be there taking our money and trying to run our lives.

            I used to feel that way myself.  Now, I have gotten to the point that I can’t just turn off and ignore things.  I can’t just allow things to go however it goes and convince myself that nothing is going to change anyway.  Not in this day and age. 

            Yes, forty years ago both of those statements were likely true.  The politicians could get away with lying because we couldn’t find out everything they were doing, but now we have entered the information age and can find out if they are voting the way they said they would.  And, here’s the scary part, things are no longer the same where it comes to politicians and what they believe anymore.  That ship has sailed.  Now, we have to pay attention to holds public office in this country and in this state.  Now, the difference between what each politician believes and seeks to do is drastically different and some of it could take away our rights, our freedoms, and our land, not to mention their attempts to strip our God from every aspect of public life.

            Some of these politicians actually believe that God has no place in public life, even to the point of not allowing His name to be put on a flag dedication accompanying a flag that flew over our nation’s capital although it is specifically requested.  Some of these politicians believe that our borders should remain open allowing anyone who wishes to come here the chance to sneak in to do whatever they wish to do, be they terrorists, criminals, or simply someone looking for a better life and taking a short cut to get it.  Some of these politicians firmly believe that the government has the right to take our land, giving us just pennies on the dollar, to do with it what they will, including handing control of it over to another country.  And some of them believe that the only reason socialism and communism in other countries failed was because the leaders of those countries didn’t do it right and they think they can do it better—the fact that the people suffered so desperately under that rule matters little to them.   

            Where does your choice of politician stand on these issues?  What do they want to do with the power they seek?  Will they spend their time looking out for your interests? Or protecting your life and the lives of your loved ones?  Or will they be working toward an agenda that will bring nothing but more trials and troubles down on the American people?  Look into it and see where they really stand before you vote.  Voting is not just our right.  In this day and age, it is our duty to protect this country for our children and grandchildren with the vote we cast.  So, do your research, and then, by all means, get out and vote.
